A life without love is of no account. Don't ask yourself what kind of love you should seek, spiritual or material, divine or mundane, Eastern or Western...Divisions only lead to more divisions. Love has no labels, no definitions. It is what it is, pure and simple.

I just finished a gorgeous read: beautiful, sorrowful, true and contemplative. Like many, I enjoy the depths of Rumi - even beyond the fields of right and wrong; however, I knew very little of him.
I am not one for historical fiction, but rather, like Virginia Woolf [ To The Lighthouse, for example] intimated, I enjoy the capturing of life in the details, in the undefined edges, in the misty glow of lamplight rather than the definitive composition. That means, if you want to go find out the birth, death and history of Rumi, look for another read. If you would like to ruminate on the depths of loving the Beloved and crevices of duality, this is for you.
This is a well crafted novel, inspiring heart and mind to delve a little deeper, whether a Rumi-phile or novice.
And here is an interesting interview with the author.
